Event Photography Services Stars to Sunrise: Lighting the Way for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw

A night-time climb up Skiddaw

The essence of the Stars to Sunrise event is rooted in compassion, hope, and an indomitable community spirit. Their primary objective was to gather funds for two incredible institutions – the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice. They have totted up have raised over £12,500 plus gift aid, which, is just phenomenal.

Why are these establishments so dear to many? They serve as sanctuaries of comfort and care for those facing life’s most challenging moments. It’s likely that within our community, many individuals have a direct or indirect connection to these hospices. Whether it’s a family member, a dear friend, or even a neighbour, the ripple effect of these institutions is far-reaching.

I share a personal bond with the hospice world. Despite his tender age and possibly unaware of the complexities of his condition, my son finds joy in his hospice visits. Like many others, his happiness and comfort are a testament to the pivotal role these hospices play.

It’s not just about medical care; it’s about moments of happiness, the comfort of familiar faces, and a haven where children like my son can be kids, even if for a short while. The Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw aren’t just buildings; they’re embodiments of hope, love, and community support.

Event Photography Services For Eden Valley Hospice

The serene backdrop of the twinkling constellations over Skiddaw in the Lake District recently played host to a moment that was profoundly inspiring and personal for me. The “Stars to Sunrise” event, orchestrated by the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, was not just another fundraising event. For many, it symbolised hope, resilience, and unity. For me, it echoed the heartbeat of my own child.

Having a son with a heart defect who spends time in a hospice himself, this event wasn’t just another assignment. Every step the participants took, and every challenge they faced resonated with the journey my family and I undertake every day. The cause was not just close to my heart; it was a part of my very soul.

I may not have scaled the heights of Skiddaw that evening, but my lens and heart were undoubtedly captivated. As the official event photographer under the banner of Brian Austwick Photography, I waited patiently at the Skiddaw Hotel, ready to capture the triumphant return of each participant. Each click of my camera celebrated not just the event itself but the unyielding spirit of every individual who undertook this journey.

Guidance at Great Heights: Pre-Climb Briefing with Lakeland Mountain Guides

This event was expertly organised. Beyond its significant fundraising purpose, ensuring everyone’s safety during the night walk up Skiddaw was crucial.

You could see that an air of anticipation, mixed with nervous excitement, was undoubtedly noticed amongst the eager hikers. They had embarked on a journey to conquer Lakeland’s fourth-highest mountain, and every climber knew the challenges and rewards that awaited them.

Matt, a seasoned guide from the renowned Lakeland Mountain Guides team, was at the helm of this adventure. With a reassuring presence and years of experience navigating the fells, Matt gave a pre-climb briefing.

Gathering the group around, Matt expertly detailed the ascent’s route, ensuring everyone knew the significant landmarks and potential challenges they might face. He spoke of the mountain’s unique terrains, unpredictable weather, and the importance of trusting the guides together.

The importance of safety

Matt emphasised safety, reminding everyone of the importance of communication during the ascent. “The mountain may be high,” he stated, “but together, and with the guidance of our team, we’ll ensure you reach the top and back down safely.”

A huge shoutout for the participants of the Stars to Sunrise Event

The intention was to document the walk, but Mother Nature had other ideas. Heavy clouds obscured the sky, bringing with it challenging weather. Still, the enthusiasm of the climbers remained unshaken. Thankfully, the Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick generously provided a room for Eden Valley Hospice during the event, with a hearty breakfast awaiting them when they arrived back at the hotel.

These mesmerising moments of triumph, smiles, and exhaustion were all captured through my camera; capturing the essence of the Eden Valley Hospice fundraising 2023 event was not just a job for us but a privilege.

I think a special shoutout to the Lakeland Mountain Guide team is warranted. Without their expert guidance and unwavering support, this event would have been an uphill task, literally and figuratively. Their dedication ensured the walkers were safe and guided through the challenging terrains.

To all who participated and made “Stars to Sunrise” a success, each one of you is an absolute star. Your commitment towards a good cause is genuinely commendable.

As I reminisce about this event, I’m excited for more such endeavours by Eden Valley Hospice. Their spirit, resilience, and commitment to making a difference are genuinely inspiring.

For now, the memories of “Stars to Sunrise” linger, not just in the photos but in the hearts of all who were a part of it.

A massive shoutout to Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
